In other news: I have BOUGHT my ticket to South Africa for the January Scouting trip. I only need to...do a lot more stuff to get ready to go. See the plan is that I move all of my stuff from my home in Texas to my mom's house in Florida the week before Christmas.I didn't think about this being sad until recently. See, I have lived in Texas longer than any one single place since I was 18. I have complained about the Heat, the red ants, the heat, the traffic, the heat, the lack of sceanery, the independant attitude, and...did I mention the heat, but I must say, I call it HOME and I will miss it here.
What will I miss? Well, as you can figure, I won't miss the summer heat or the out door beauty...but I will miss first and formost my church, Refuge.
Refuge has been just that for me. When God says in his Word that he "places the solitude in families" he means Refuge! This church is rather small (100 people or so) but is the most loving place I have ever been. I have made so many friends over the years and we have had such great times- playing games, going to the Mavericks, the Stars, ice skating, hiking/walking, watching tons of movies, staying up to late, getting drunk in the spirit (if you don't know what this is....just ask), all night worship, all night prayer, camping, etc.
I am looking forward to the beauty of South Africa, the feeling of being in the right place at the right time, and hanging out with old and new friends there.
If you haven't checked out my website in a while...you should..www.aaronshands.org.
