I landed in Newark today...what an adventure! I had contacted a new friend that lives in Manhattan and she came and met me at the airport. She didn't really know the area around the airport, so we just got on the NJ Turnpike and drove...we took the first exit possible and ended up in Bayonne, NJ. We found a neat little diner. There are a lot of Diners in New Jersey, you know like on the TV show- Mel's Diner.
The thing that I learned about New Jersey....they have lots of roads going everywhere and you can't make very many U turns or Left Turns. In fact, if there is a U turn lane it is on the right hand side....weird, huh? And as my friend Alece mentioned on her blog...you can't pump your own gas in Jersey. After I dropped my friend back off at the airport and headed to my hotel (which is 40 miles south of the airport), I got COMPLETELY turned around looking for an ATM. Why did I need to find an ATM ....one word "Toll". This happens to me...I forget about toll roads and I don't bring cash with me. So while trying to find this ATM I found the "hood" of Jersey....it was scary, but on my NEW Jersey Drive I found my way out and onto the toll road (after I found the ATM) and down to my hotel.
Tomorrow, off to another adventure....to Denver or Bust.
