Last week I had the opportunity to teach one of the intern classes because the staff member, Kelly, that normally teaches the class was out of town. This class is basically a Bible Class and they have been studying the Holy Spirit, Gifts of the Spirit, etc….and today’s lesson was Healing and the Great Commission...about how it is a command for ALL BELIEVERS…...it was so much fun!
I can’t believe how wonderful it was to not only teach, but to share things that I am currently learning about God on the subject at hand. I think that is what I like about teaching…it is so challenging to me. I was challenged as I prepared for class and even as I taught I was challenged to really continue to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit to know where to go….
The most interesting thing is that one of the interns, Jace, was in bed sick….so at the end of the class I invited anyone who wanted to (well the girls anyway) to join me to go an lay hands Jace and pray for healing. Three of the girls went with me and we went in and prayed….I could tangibly feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as these interns prayed, declared, and spoke life over her. After we were done, Jace sat up and said…”that was weird”. I asked her what…she said…it just felt weird. We stood there for a moment and she was like “I think my fever is gone”. She got dressed a few minutes later headed out to lunch and then came down for work. At the end of her work time, I asked her how she felt and she told me “I think I was healed”.... so PRAISE GOD for practical application!
The most interesting thing to me about all of this is that just yesterday I was telling my roommate why I am determined to cultivate Self Discipline in my life….because I know what I want…I want to see God move in and through me…..and I think that I need to cultivate a place where He can do that. Not that He doesn’t move when I am not disciplined, because if that was true I would have never seen HIM use me before…which I have….He is so gracious. I just think that there is a level that I am at now that just isn’t enough for me any more….I am crying out for more of the Lord….for me, for Thrive and for Africa…..and to see that, I think I need to cultivate some more discipline.
It’s a funny thing…..how God works…. I sure do love Him.
