Not really a blogger....

I know that I am not really a blogger. I read blogs written by WORLD CLASS Bloggers (like Alece and Natalie). Somehow they are able to turn daily information and happenings into the most amazing posts.

I on the other hand am a reporter and a conversational writter. I like to write like I talk...with misspelled words and everything (isn't it nice that spelling doesn't matter when you talk)! I am however, going to attempt a "bloggers, blog post"......

So..Valentine's Day....if you doubted, let me tell you that they celebrate it here in Africa too...at least in South Africa. Today is TOWN TIME DAY...which is where our interns go to town to do their shopping, hang out, etc. I get to be one of the driver's for this...which I really enjoy.

So today I noticed lots of Valentine things out...candy, red hearts, cards, etc...and many young men spending their money on their "valentines". The most interesting part of my Afternoon was when a new waitress at the coffee place we hang out at said to me "So what do you think of Valentine's Day?"

I said, "Well, right now I guess it is just like any other day...."

this didn't satisfy her...so she said...:yes, but what is it anyway? Why do we have it?"

In all of my wisdom I said.."it has something to do with a Saint...who probably did somethign loving...at sometime in history"....yes, I am brilliant and well read, as you can tell.

I didn't realize the significance of what I said until I was at church tonight. Niel was preaching and I must say....it was very good... He preached about Love...shocker....but what I took away were three haunting questions....

  1. Am I so full of God's love that I over flow? Does the Love in me cover...sin, pride, boasting, error...etc?
  2. Do I focus my love on others or on me?
  3. Is my love a daily, weekly, or a once a year kind of love?

I have been thinking about Love a lot lately....1 Cor 13:4-8.....we put it on bookmarks, but is it really written on our hearts? Is it written on mine.

I heard a pastor say this week that he meditates and prays the promises in scripture until he knows that he possesses them as a reality in his life.

I think I have some meditating and praying to do.......how about you?
