Holiday Adventures: Tattoos, Ostriches, and Caves

Marci and I have driven almost 1,000 KM (about 600 miles) and we have seen and done so much in our short 4 days! Before leaving Mossel Bay I decided it was time to get a tattoo....it is on my wrist and covers up a scar that I have had since that fatal day that I made Stoffers Lasagna.....I will try to get a picture of it posted soon.

Then we went on our way to Outshourn (oats- hoorn)....got to the hostel and were a little scared at first by the neighborhood, but it turned out to be a great place. Then we decided to go out to an Ostrich Farm....and we took a tour. I will again, try to get some photos up at the next stop.

Imagine a baby ostrich...they are pretty darn cute...and then they get ugly! I feed one, got my picture taken with it...and stood on some eggs. Marci even road one.....yikes!

Then we hung out at the hostel...went for a swim, read and had a nice ostrich sausage for dinner. We meet a neat couple from Alberta, Canada, a guy from Germany and some girls from UNC Chapel hill. It was a good night....

This morning we had some scrambled ostrich egg...only took one egg to feed all of us (and there was left overs) and then headed to Cango Caves. Neat caves originally inhabited by the Xosian people....first opened to tourists in 1891....yikes....glad I wasn't going back then...ie- before ELECTRICITY was there!

Today we headed to Knysna..on the way we stopped by a fruit stand and got to see how HOPS grew....who knew? They look like vines...

It is really beautiful here and we love it...9 more days..... ahhh...

We will be Canopy Glidding tomorrow.....I am a little nervous but I am sure it will be fun.
