Well, I finished my last tour with ACTS and headed to my brother's house on the train last night. I got in just in time to go to my newphew's LaCrosse game. It was a special one because it was his last home game and senior recognition night. So, I sat and watch as my brother and sister-in -law escorted him on to the field. I got all tearieyed thinking about how he is all grown up (18 and looks like it!). My dad use to say that time sure does fly and I never knew what he meant until I look at my nieces and nephew. I am so blessed to have them!
Anyway, today I went to Quantico National Cemetary to visit my dad's grave. It is a little strange since I don't believe that he is really "there" and I talk to him all the time anyway. I wanted to see his headstone though and leave some flowers. So, I played "Butterfly Kisses" in the car on my way in and had a nice cry. I spent a little time there praying and then left. As I was walking to my car I thought about how my dad would probably have taken a picture of me in front of the head stone (I have a lot of those...) and chuckled to myself. If I had a camera I might have done it just for him....but I am not the photograph maniac that he was! :)
I just arrived in Charlotte, NC to visit one of my closest friends..Roz Brown. I am going to stay with her family for a few days and play with my little nephew, Andrew and hang out with them. These are the things that I will miss when I am in South Africa....not the comforts of America, but the fellowship and laughs with old friends.
OnTuesday I head to Atlanta and should make it to FL by Wednesday evening. That leaves me about 10 days before I am suppose to fly back to Africa.....please pray everything comes together!
