My first tour....oh my goodness...

"Gentlemen, can I have your attention?"

Okay, I have to admit that after the first day of my first tour I was thinking "why am I doing this again?" For starters, half of our group of 122 was delayed and the half that was there...was well, hungry and tired. So, we navigated through that to run into minor problems of logistics where there are several chiefs. It all ended well, though late....oh, and I found out that I DID NOT PASS my dumb tour guide test. Don't worry, my heart isn't broken, I am just afraid I might not have enough time to study what needs to be studied in order to pass...next week. Honestly, it effects my pay, which is what I am most concerned about...I need the money :)

Anyway, with that aside, I made it through Day 2 with flying colors and flying Charlene....well, we went to Arlington National Cemetary, which is a lot of walking and a LOT of talking. For the most part they are listening pretty well, but I do have my ways to keep them quite. You know...silence, bargaining, guilt...all the good ones my mom taught me. I will say "Gentlemen" hoping the positive prophecy will turn into one that they fulfill. As for me and the information...well, I have so much to learn, but I think I gave them their moneys worth. After dinner we went to a few memorials and I WIPED out at the Lincoln...it was hilarious really. I didn't hurt myself and my quick recovery endeared my guys (I have all 8th grade boys) to me and they gave me a high five for form!

Overall, I think it is going pretty well, but I must be honest that I am happy we only have two more days.... :). In all seriousness, I think things will be good....really...they will.

Here is a CUTE picture of me and my nephew Andrew (Roz's baby)....Isn't he adorable. He is 7 months old and just as sweet as can be....now that I met him, I am tempted to move to Charlotte, just to be close!!!!

Hey Charlene -- just thought I'd drop a note to let you know ... I'm reading your blogs!! I don't often comment, but I'm always checking in. Fun to hear your adventures! And by the way ... what a pitiful reason to not pay you what you're worth. ;)

I laughed at the mental picture of you wiping out in front of Lincoln and a swarm of 8th graders. Sounds like you handled yourself fantastically! :-) Can't wait to see you in a few months!
