Creative Christmas Gift

I just got back from the longest day in history...okay, well technically it is the shortest day of the year, but it felt long in parts. My friend Luke and I decided to exchange gifts....and knowing how much he enjoys adventure, I decided to do a bit of a Treasure Hunt for him. I bought the Treasure with the help of one of his Guy friends and then went to the scrap book store for ideas. The location I picked was actually about 1 1/2 away (should have thought closer)...I decided on Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose, TX. So while at the scrap book store I decided that I would make up a Legend and then tell him there is a treasure to find....then give him a clue that leads to another clue and so forth. I wanted him to enjoy the day hiking, so I placed the clues far apart....and he is a smart cookie, so I tried to be clever with my clues. Well, my tired, cold feet now think I might have placed the clues toooo far apart and maybe they were also a bit confusing. Opps!! Anyway, two of our other friends, Sarah and Michael helped me, by going ahead and placing clues for me...and the treasure of course. Well, to say that the day ended much different than planned is one way to say it...in the end, we ended up taking a VERY long detour around the GREEN TRAIL!...it really isn't easy being GREEN!! Then in the end we ended up hiking in the DARK without a flash light for at least an hour....not to mention crossing the river in the dark on well placed rocks....I am fortunate that I didn't go swimming.

In the end, I think he had a good time and liked the gift. I know that I laughed most of the day, except for that one part where I got a little teary-eyed and felt like a failure for it taking so long....oh well, as my saying goes "It all worked out in the end!".

Blessings to you all and have a MERRY Christmas!!

Love-
Charlene
