So, today I got up at 6:30am, drove 30 miles to Dallas. When I showed up to the 5K I still needed to register...there were others in my boat...like several hundred others...I wasn't sure if I would get to run or not.
So I thought there were 5,000 runners, but the results show less, so I don't know! I was able to run...I felt so offical with my bib and my time chip on my shoe....what fun!
I lined up with everyone and took off....listening to Bill Johnson preach about Faith for the Impossible...I had faith that I would finish....not exactly impossible, but I NEVER would have thought that I would ever want to attempt a 5K let alone actually do one...ALL MY MYSELF!!
At the 1st Mile there was a refreshment station....of BEER! How ODD! I did not partake, but kept up...I did my run/walk routine (2:1) and just kept going.
Mile 3 had a few hills and then I came around the corner to sprint the last 2 tenths of a kilometer....45min and 44 sec later....I was DONE!
For my first run I came in 203 out of 220 in my age group and overall...2047 out of 2151 that finished the race....so, I wasn't even last! YEAH!
If you still would like to contribute towards the CAR FUNdraiser....the FUN continues as I will be running again next week in the SONSHINE RUN in Plano! You can go here to give via PAYPAL or you can go here to get directions to send a check.
THANKS!!!
