Well, it has officially been a week that I have been in South Africa, but it feels like it has been a month. No, seriously...it does. Things are going pretty well....my spirits are high and I am enjoying getting to know people here....and I feel pretty useful already, which is nice. I have been grocery shopping twice and I went into Harrismith (The town that we live closest too) on Friday and got to go the bank and a few other shops. It is a small town, but pretty quaint. I do have a friend here that I just adore who has some VERY strong opinions. I tease her all the time about publishing an "I hate" list...because things are very black and white with her...she seems to either LOVE it or HATE it... I posted a picture of a horse on my last blog. Apparently there are more horses here than the last time I was here and they are everywhere. She mentioned to me that she "hates" horses...I rather like them:).
Her strong opinions have made me think about my opinions. I know I have strong ones, but I am not sure that I am that strong on most regular things...like horses or tuna fish. What about you all...are there things that you absolutely hate? Let's hear some....

Hmmm, things I hate? I don't generally use that term either. Things I strongly dislike: pumpkin pie, a church service that runs long when I'm hungry, going to the dentist, house-sitting. I hate: getting irretrivably lost while trying to get somewhere, homework with math that makes me cry, being a disappointment to people. I love: catching up with old friends, the perfect cup of tea, saturday mornings.

What do I hate?? Hmmm....LIVER!!!! pants without pockets, pony tail elastics that don't fully wrap around my hair enough times to hold this hair of mine, zits, my gas bill!?? I think that's it!! But those aren't long hates, just short lived hates...that only seem to be hated when they happen. Well If I am honest I hate when people hurt others in anyway.
Anyways, I am off to head to bed, which I LOVE!!! Ahh the covers!!
Are you sleeping in sheets or sleeping bag while you're there??
There's no way I could possibly list all the things I [potentially] hate. I do have quite a long list of pet peeves but I'd rather not post that list here because those who read it may quickly deduce that I am rather high-maintenance. I hate being told I'm high-maintenance. Oh, shoot. I listed one of my hates. Okay, well, may as well list a couple others. I hate cigarette smoke. Loathe it. I hate everything about cigarettes. That has to be number one in my book. And in reference to your entry, I don't necessarily hate but am easily frustrated with those who see the world and everything in it through a black and white filter. I prefer to see life through a colorful lens with no filter and I hold in the highest esteem the person who can maintain objectivity in a world full of strong opinions.

My all means, the thing I hate the most is having a good friend throw applesauce in my face after a nice peaceful dinner. :-)
Okay, I can't think of much I'd say I hate, but it's good to hear you're there and enjoying the African summer!
