Cooking in Africa

Well thanks to all those that chimed in on the last post. To clarify for those of you that read the comments....that apple sauce incident happened 13 years ago!

I titled this blog cooking because I have been doing it and learning more in the two weeks that I have been here. I have a housemate named Brittany who is an excellant cook, we call her Martha...as in Stewart...not the one in the bible. Anyway, today Brittany taught me what julienne means in the cooking world when she asked me to cut the carrots that way...basically...Carrot Sticks.

I made dinner twice last week....Cranberry Chicken one night and Nachos the next. I might be setting myself up...but really it is SOOO MUCH easier to cook for 4 or 5 than one. We have decided to have girls night everyother Thursday.

Food here is a lot like the US. Just different brands and some things are hard to get. Like we all hope for tortilla's every week....but they don't always have them. We love Mexican food here!

I will write more later....

It IS way easier to cook for 4 or 5 then for 1! It's a well known fact!

They don't have Tex-mex in Japan either... oh how I miss you my beloved salsa!

Salsa- we can get Old El Paso in Johannesburg...so when someone makes a run to the city (3 1/2 hours) we put in our orders for salsa and tortillas! Hmmm
